As part of Yayasan Hasanah’s ArtsFAS 2021, The Actors Studio Seni Teater Rakyat will be joining hands with Mekar Budaya to bring you an unforgettable Bangsawan performance “Hikayat Si Miskin Menjadi Raja”.

Directed by Dr. Marlenny Deenerwan, who has dedicated more than 20 years of her life to this art form, this show will be a tribute to her guru Rahman B, a living legend whose name is synonymous with Bangsawan theatre and the last surviving practitioner of his generation.

We celebrate the return of live performances and Bangsawan theatre with Dr. Marlenny Deenerwan’s new work inspired by “Anak Raja dan Anak Papa” by Pendeta Zaaba (1958) which was adapted from Mark Twain’s “The Prince and the Pauper”.

 It is not every day that you get the chance to relive the glorious heydays of Bangsawan complete with its colourful costumes and characters, live music, dance and comedic elements. A must-watch once in your life!

Sebagai rakan kerjasama Yayasan Hasanah, dibawah platform ArtsFAS 2021, The Actors Studio Seni Teater Rakyat dan Mekar Budaya akan mempersembahkan sebuah projek Bangsawan  bertajuk "Hikayat Si Miskin Menjadi Raja" arahan Dr. Marlenny Deenerwan sebagai tribut kepada gurunya, juga Tokoh Bangsawan, Abdul Rahman Abu Bakar, atau Rahman B.

Bangsawan merupakan satu-satunya bentuk kesenian yang berupaya dijadikan platform integrasi elemen-elemen seni persembahan, seni halus, seni visual, dan seni mempertahankan diri. Justeru, ini yang menjadikannya sebuah seni persembahan lebih unik.

Naskhah “Hikayat Si Miskin Menjadi Raja” merupakan sebuah inspirasi daripada novel “Anak Raja dan Anak Papa” tulisan Pendeta Zaaba (1958), yang diadaptasi daripada “The Prince and The Pauper” karya Mark Twain (1881).

Sinopsis

Amir Hamzah, putera mahkota kerajaan Kota Batu Putih adalah seorang anak raja yang bosan dengan kehidupan bangsawan, manakala Kadir Jabun anak keluarga miskin menyimpan impian mengecapi kehidupan mewah seperti keluarga diraja. Kedua-dua mereka yang dilahirkan pada tarikh dan tahun yang sama mempunyai wajah seiras, telah bertukar tempat dan kedudukan ekoran satu insiden di taman istana. Pengembaraan Amir Hamzah sebagai anak gelandangan bermula, demikian juga kejanggalan Kadir yang kini adalah seorang anak raja. Amir Hamzah mendengar terlalu banyak keluh-kesah rakyat yang tak pernah dijangka olehnya, sementara Kadir menyedari bahawa kehidupan keluarga diraja tidaklah seindah yang diimpikan. Kedua-dua mereka mengharungi kekeliruan dan pengalaman baru, dalam usaha untuk mengetahui kehidupan yang berbeza dan berusaha untuk kembali kepada kehidupan yang asal.
