About

In 2025, klpac turns 20.

We survived a global financial crisis AND a pandemic that left us 377 without audiences. We have clawed our way back to full houses knowing we would never make up the losses. We focused on pressing on even when funding dried up and sponsors left.

Budget 2025 has left non-profit arts centres like us in a sad state. We are waiting no more. Leading up to our 20th anniversary, klpac will be fundraising to secure our own future and we are inviting arts lovers who have been part of klpac’s story and space to chip in.

About Save Your Seat
#SaveYourSeat is an adopt-a-seat programme, part of klpac’s 20th anniversary fundraising.

We know how Malaysians love to ‘chope’ seats. You can now ‘chope’ or adopt your own seat in Pentas 1 and play a part in keeping this beautiful home for Malaysian performing arts alive.

It can be done under your name or you can ‘chope’ on behalf of someone else to celebrate a milestone or anniversary, dedicate it to your loved one or furkid. You can even team up with your friends to adopt one. The funds will be channeled to klpac’s operations needs and you will be recognised on a board outside Pentas 1 through 2025.

We first ran #SaveYourSeat in 2020 during the pandemic and will be forever grateful to our first batch of #SaveYourSeat adoptees from near and far.

How Does It Work? In 3 Simple Steps
Step 1: Go to www.cloudjoi.com, and search “Save Your Seat”.
Step 2: Click ‘Book Now’ button and pick your seat(s) and proceed to check out
Step 3: Fill in your contacts, preferred name to be recognised by & payment details
Once payment has been made, you’ve successfully adopted a seat
(You’ll receive an official receipt & e-certificate from klpac)

Questions? Read on…

1) What will the money be used for?
#SaveYourSeat fund will be used for klpac’s operation needs such as utilities and other crucial overheads.

2) How do I become a seat adopter?
Go to www.cloudjoi.com select a seat and pay.

3) Can I adopt more than one seat?
Yes, the more, the merrier! You can adopt up to 15 seats in a single transaction across different tiers / zones online. If you’d like to adopt more, do WhatsApp +6018 227 7212.

4) Can I adopt a seat on behalf of a friend?
Yes, you can ‘chope’ a seat on behalf of a friend, we won’t give you the eye. You will be asked to fill in the name you would like to recognised by after choosing the seat.

5) I’m overseas. Can I adopt a seat?
People from all over the world buy tickets on www.cloudjoi.com which means you can also adopt a seat which is why we chose to go with our partner.

6) How long will the campaign run for?
It will run until all seats have been adopted.

7) Is the donation tax exempted?
No, unfortunately arts donations are not tax exempted in Malaysia but you will get an official receipt from klpac. As to why not, it is something you can raise with your representative.

8) What are the accepted payment methods?
You can pay via credit card, debit card, e-wallet (GrabPay, Boost, Touch ‘n Go, Shopee Pay, MAE), online banking (FPX) or PayPal.

9) Can I exchange seats / get a refund?
Sorry, we are unable to exchange / refund after payment has been made.

10) Can I make a donation without adopting a seat?
Yes, you can donate directly to klpac via bank transfer, cheque, QR or cash.

Our Story
In 1995, two individuals created history by building the first privately owned and operated theatre in Malaysia below Dataran Merdeka. The individuals were Faridah Merican and Joe Hasham and the theatre was the The Actors Studio@Plaza Putra.

Then in 2003, flash floods inundated KL and destroyed The Actors Studio’s underground complex entirely. It was out of this tragedy that The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac) was born.

The arts community needed a new home and history was made yet again. The Actors Studio, YTL Corporation and Yayasan Budi Penyayang joined hands to establish the country’s first fully-integrated arts centre. The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac), a non-profit organisation, opened its doors in May 2005.

It has not only been a home to the arts community and a foster home for foreign troupes but it has become the very lifeline that keeps the arts and cultural life in Malaysia breathing.

An arts and cultural icon. Historical landmark. Award-winning architectural design.

There is nothing quite like klpac, really.
