About

As we travel through this journey called Life, we may encounter love but also moments of loss, dizzying happiness but also heart-wrenching sadness, all two side of the same coin. When we are in despair and ready to throw in the towel, the tides may turn and a surprise may be in store for us as new chapters unfold. What we thought was the end may just be another beginning.

Suka + Duka is the coming together of friends and fellow arts makers as a toast to this thing called Life and the journey we are all on. It teases our senses with music, poetry as well as  the  warmth and spirit of togetherness that we have missed all year.

This multi-instrumental, multi-genre presentation features Ian Chow’s original songs from the past decade on first love ‘Sengaja’, a couple’s love ‘Bidadari’, a father’s love ‘Anakku Sayangku’ and loss ‘One Day’ with a specially-curated collection of poetry and a new composition by Andrew Lim. Directed by Ian Chow and Easee Gan, performed by Andrew Lim, Chong Eugene, Ian Chow, Tan Li Yang and Zhafir Muzani.

Performed predominantly in Mandarin and Bahasa Malaysia.
