Darrel is passionate about teaching and focuses on engaging the students’ minds and encourages them to solve problems by themselves using a combination of music theory, aural, and harmony skills. This cultivates a self-disciplined and self-motivated musician.

Apart from being a countertenor soloist, Darrel is an active choral conductor and active collaborative pianist, working with singers and instrumentalists in Malaysia and Birmingham. Currently Darrel conducts VerSeS, sings with the KL Madrigal Singers and teaches music around the Klang Valley.
