About

Synopsis
The Wizard of Oz is a timeless journey of self-discovery and personal growth. Dorothy and her companions—the Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, and Cowardly Lion—each believe they lack something essential: intelligence, heart, or courage. Yet, through their adventures, they come to realize that these qualities were within them all along. The story reminds us that true strength comes from within.

Dorothy’s home, the vast and barren Kansas prairie, is a place many would find bleak and unwelcoming. Its relentless cyclones and monotony have drained the joy from life, turning Aunt Em into an old, weary woman before her time. By contrast, Oz is a land of breathtaking beauty and enchantment—filled with vibrant landscapes, fantastical creatures, and thrilling adventures. But despite its wonders, Dorothy longs to return home, affirming that there’s no place like home—not just a physical place, but a home within oneself, where authenticity and belonging reside.

This cultural adaptation brings to life The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, L. Frank Baum’s beloved 1900 classic. As Dorothy journeys along the Yellow Brick Road, she meets the Scarecrow, who seeks wisdom, and the Tin Woodman, who longs for a heart. Together, they embark on an adventure rich in friendship, courage, and the universal quest for self-discovery—woven with whimsy, wonder, and a touch of magic.

About the Production
The Class 8 drama production is the culmination of years of dedication, creativity, and growth. Guided by their teachers, students step beyond their comfort zones, learning to collaborate, take responsibility, and bring a story to life on stage. To truly embody a character—and to create a compelling performance—each student must break through personal barriers, embracing this opportunity to grow beyond the roles they may have assigned themselves in daily life.

As part of their Waldorf education, this marks their first full-scale theatrical production, where they take on responsibilities beyond acting—contributing to production, stage design, and promoting their performance within the community. Drama serves as a powerful medium for self-discovery, allowing students to explore different aspects of themselves through storytelling and performance. This journey is not just about putting on a play; it symbolizes their transformation and readiness for the next stage of their lives.

By attending, you support and celebrate this pivotal moment in their journey, becoming part of the warmth and encouragement that nurtures their growth.

All proceeds from the production will go towards Class 8 and school fundraising efforts.
