About

Angelika,德國波蘭裔薩克斯風手,協同兩位樂手John-Dennis Renken, on bass以小號(Trumpet)及Matthias Akeo Nowak低音提琴(Double Bass)組成三重奏(Trio);

Angelika, a German-Polish saxophonist, together with John-Dennis Renken on trumpet and Matthias Akeo Nowak on bass, form the Angelika Niescier Trio, contributing various hues of contemporary jazz.
Orang Orang Drum Theatre, using Shigu as the main element, along with traditional instruments from Southeast Asia such as North Bornean percussion, Malay percussion, and Chinese folk percussion, have created a drumming that evokes a rainforest’s atmosphere with Shigu, to kick off a groundbreaking musical dialogue in 掘失 (jue shi) The Hidden Tune.
“掘失jué shī” and “The Hidden Tune” is not a translation between two languages, but a unified mix of frequencies coming from two channels. It is hard to categorize, yet filled with possibilities that resonate in this unusual music collaboration—a musical dialogue between contemporary jazz and Shigu.

“掘失(jue shi) The Hidden Tune” uses sound to execute this clash of cultures, travelling the tracks of various frequencies while seeking the hidden—or perhaps non-existent—resonances.

CAST NAME & BACKGROUND

ORANG ORANG DRUM THEATRE [MALAYSIA]

Since its establishment in 2013, Orang Orang Drum Theatre’s core members Boyz Chew, Zyee Leow, and Damien Leow have been oscillating between music, dance, and theatre, looking for a platform of expression for drum theatre. They brought a team with them to participate in the international music festival Sziget Festival 2019, WOMADELAIDE 2020, the Venice theatre arts festival Venice Open Stage, and the Belgium-Germany dance festival Danse en Ville. In recent years, they have brought their troupe to tour many cultural and dance arts festivals in Europe, such as in France, Hungary, and Serbia. Through interactions with traditional cultures, they find their balance between the traditional and the contemporary.
The word ‘orang’ means people, and the central mission of OODT is to bring the arts to the people; the word ‘drum theatre’ is used because, just by placing a drum in a theatre space, it gains the ability to tell a story even as it creates music.
