On the occasion of the one hundred and fifty years since the death of Gioachino Rossini, the eclectic Emilian choreographer Monica Casadei with the Artemis Danza Company tackles one of the most famous works of the Pesaro master, "Il Barbiere di Siviglia", with a choreographic interpretation that debuted in Pesaro, in the historic Teatro Rossini. 

A show that Monica Casadei has imagined as a futuristic "action ballet" and which, as usual, involves the entire creative body of Artemis in a contamination of languages, which is enriched by the costumes created by the visual artist Daniela Usai and the musical elaborations by the composer Luca Vianini, who confronts Rossini.

But who is really Figaro? Am I one, ten, or a hundred? They are members of a close-knit and competitive special team, which moves between irony and challenge in a post-modern action ballet.

In the choreographer’s reinterpretation, Figaro is the prototype of the successful man in today's world who wears managerial clothes and follows the rules imposed by an increasingly depersonalized and self-centered society. Rossini's hero becomes the emblem of those who manage to satisfy the expectations of a society with effectiveness, vivacity, and savoir-faire that imposes every day to achieve its goals by optimizing time and energy.

On the choreographic level, the character of Figaro is multiplied in the bodies of the extraordinary dancers of the Company, where, without distinction of gender, the performers act with determination, energy, and rigor of a special team: toned, gritty and hyper-concentrated, the dance manipulates time and space relentlessly, continuously weaves and unties an infinite network of changes of direction, intersections of trajectories and inlays of movements, in a game full of energy and unexpected events.

Almost following the routes of crowded and noisy highways, the dancers extricate themselves with lucidity and martial energy, wise cogs of the crazy mechanism of social life. The result is an action performance, characterized by an atmosphere suspended between a past shadow and a flashing and frenetic present: the unattainable image of a perfect man appears and disappears before the eyes of the public, to multiply in the dancers and their virtuosity technicians.
