About

To mark the end of Creative Solo Through Tearing and Rebirth, a 5-week movement arts intensive course with contemporary dance choreographer, Gabriel Wong, we are pleased to invite you to be part of our participants' journey. The showcase is not about performing for approval—it’s a milestone to honor their growth. It’s about sharing their journey, discoveries, and authentic voice in a supportive and intimate setting.

About the Intensive Course

Creative Solo Through Tearing and Rebirth is envisioned as a nurturing space where participants of all experience levels can develop narrative in movement arts, imbued with personal meaning and emotion. Based on the themes of tearing and renewal, participants will revisit and transform their emotional experiences into imaginative physical expressions. Trained dancers will be challenged to prioritise individual expression and storytelling over dance techniques. This course combines guided movement explorations, improvisations, creation of movement stories and reflective journaling in deepening the connection between self, personal growth and movement. Throughout the course, participants will embody the tension, fragmentation, and transformative power of these cycles, discovering how to express both vulnerability and strength through their bodies.

About Mentor

" Throughout all my experiences and inspiration drawn from the greatest artists before me, one fundamental principle remains central to my approach: authenticity. In everything we do—not just in dance—we often draw from the best, learn from the greatest, and find inspiration in legends. There is nothing new that hasn’t been done before. In fact, at this very moment, countless individuals around the world are trying to create something new. Honestly ask yourself: how many of the things you are currently doing have not already been accomplished by someone else—someone more qualified, competent, or convincing?

Fortunately for me, dance is not about that; it revolves around storytelling. What we truly need to explore is our past—our life experiences, emotions, the highs and lows we encounter, and how we overcome our challenges. It is essential to embrace the "daring to share" mindset so that we can inspire others to share their own stories. "

Currently based in Sabah and Paris, Gabriel Wong is a professional dancer, choreographer and artistic advisor. He graduated from the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts and Laban Centre London. He was awarded The Theatre Prize 2002 for Dancer of The Year, and First Price for “Freie Theatergruppen” in the season 2011/12 in Germany, and recently in 2024, he received the Best Featured / Lead Performer in dance category from the 19th BOH Cameronian Arts Awards. His cooperation projects mainly in Europe, as well as in America and across Asia. Since the 2003 season, he has been providing regular modern dance training at the Stadttheater in Germany while traveling as a guest teacher for professional dance companies and private schools across the country. His teaching experience extends internationally, including Hong Kong, Philadelphia, England, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, and Poland.
