Timeless Patterns: Traditional Chinese Hanfu and Art in the Modern Era Exhibition

Explore the rich heritage of Chinese attire at the Timeless Patterns exhibition, presented by the Museum of Asian Art, Universiti Malaya, in collaboration with the Kong Zi Institute. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations, this exhibition highlights the evolution of traditional Chinese Hanfu clothing, showcasing how ancient designs are being revived in modern-day fashion.

In addition to the exquisite Hanfu pieces, visitors will also discover traditional Malay attire, featuring the tanjak or destar—symbolic headpieces that reflect Malaysia’s cultural identity—carefully curated from the collections of the Malay Ethnography Museum and Pernilam.

Running from 10 October to 31 December 2024.

"Pocket activities" will be available throughout the exhibition, allowing visitors to engage with the culture and art on display.

Make sure to visit and experience this cultural exchange!

Visiting hours: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
