You could say he’s adaptable, or just trying to stay alive in the arts scene (#justkidding).
Stage Performances
Skylar's journey kicked off at New Era University College, where he earned a Diploma in Drama and Visuals. He dove headfirst into a lineup of student productions, taking on lead roles in The Tempest (2021) and The Fable of X (2021). He also showcased his acting prowess in Dreams of Secular Life (2022) and Mama Looking for Her Cat (staged twice in 2022), flexing his skills both onstage and behind the scenes. Additionally, he tried his hand as a stand-up comedy performer on 《我要BOOM料》之 搬砖人已下线 (2024), proving that he’s not afraid to make audiences laugh.
Production Contributions
After graduating, Skylar kept things spicy by taking on stage management roles in Indicinelive! 8 (2023) and 十面埋福 (2024). He produced Mama Looking for Her Cat and served as the lighting designer for both stagings, in addition to being the lighting designer for Dreams of Secular Life (2022), demonstrating his knack for bringing creative projects to life. For Lao Wang the Musical (2024), he’ll also take on the role of lighting designer, adding another creative feather to his cap.
On-Screen Roles
His passion for storytelling extends to the world of film, where he has starred in short films like The Mysterious Case (2021), Drift in My Bottle (2022), and Hati Mat Chen (2023). In 2024, Skylar mainly featured in the CompAsia Malaysia commercial ad. On screen, he made an appearance in various productions, with the most notable being the Astro drama series 青春,你好 (2024).
By day, he’s boosting Malaysia’s arts scene as part of CloudJoi’s Community Team, where he actively contributes to strengthening the performing arts community.
