Originally from Sarawak, Borneo, Alexius Henry is an accomplished drummer known for his versatility across jazz, rock, and pop genres. He began his musical journey playing in wedding and private function bands, establishing himself as a dynamic live performer.
In 2000, he moved to Penang to further his studies and quickly became a fixture in the local jazz scene, joining the Q-Jazz Collective. As a drummer with the Areca Jazz Orchestra, he performed at the Penang Island Jazz Festival and played alongside various trios and quartets on the festival’s Fringe stage.
His passion for rhythm extended beyond jazz when he joined the indie rock band PAKU in 2007. The band signed an EP deal with Deathstar Productions, leading to a UK tour following the EP’s release.
Currently, he remains an integral part of Penang’s live music scene, performing regularly with multiple bands in café gigs and live music venues. In 2023, he showcased his artistry in two sold-out performances of The Enchanted Forest at the Penang Performing Arts Centre (Penang PAC).
With a career spanning jazz festivals, international tours, and high-profile performances, Alexius Henry continues to make his mark as one of Penang’s most dynamic drummers.
