About
With Strings in the House (SitH), the Ataneres Ensemble explores these intersections. Where none exist, they are meticulously created. Classical orchestration is combined with the structure of a DJ set. As a result, the best of both worlds thrives: typical classical themes will seduce the audience into a kind of trance, while trance music benefits from the harmonic and aesthetic depth of a full-blown string orchestra.
This unusual synergy proves to be both convincing and compelling. Here, strings dialogue with analogue synthesisers. Laurent Garnier meets Arvo Pärt, and Nils Frahm goes head to head with Philip Glass. Minimalist treasures, cinematic highlights, and covers keep this programme accessible at all times.
With SitH, three old friends (Frederik Martens, Jimmy Quintens, and Wim Spaepen) reunite in an unusual quest for alternative beauty. Virtual boundaries between classical music and extravagant parties either evaporate or are boldly ignored.
Disclaimer: “Not for the conformist, but for the curious.” We’re bringing down the House!
