About
Synopsis:
Spring Fest returns to DPAC with a captivating new theme in Traditions Reimagined: The Legend of the Serpents. Set within the grand halls of an ancient Chinese palace, this immersive performance draws the audience into a world where tradition and modernity dance in harmony. Empress Lin presides over the palace’s New Year celebrations, facing a pivotal moment as she seeks to bridge the old with the new.
A magnificent lion dance, symbolizing courage and strength, bursts onto the stage, filling the palace courtyard with its powerful movements and rhythm, while stirring music and drum beats evoke the vibrant spirit of Chinese New Year. Traditional Chinese instruments like the guzheng, erhu, sheng, and dizi accompany this visual spectacle, blending with contemporary dance to create a dynamic expression of cultural unity and renewal.
The legend of the serpents unfolds through the art of music and movement, culminating in a climactic Serpent Dance that represents the harmony between nature and humanity. The powerful message of unity, hope, and the joy of new beginnings, encapsulating the true essence of the New Year.
