Teater Tradisional Makyung 'DEWA INDERA INDERA DEWA'

The ancient art form of Mak Yong, an ancient Malay theatre genre performed for centuries in the royal courts of Kelantan up until the 1920s, has arrived at the George Town Festival 2022 and it is a triumph of intangible cultural heritage preservation. Kumpulan Seri Makyung USM is bound to astound with Teater Tradisional Makyung 'DEWA INDERA INDERA DEWA', a Mak Yong story which tells the tales of two princes – Dewa Indera and Indera Dewa – vying for the love of Puteri Selindungan Daun, whom they saved from a jinn. Teater Tradisional Makyung 'DEWA INDERA INDERA DEWA' addresses complex themes, such as sibling rivalry, royal tradition and the world of jinn (genie) through stylised dance and action, hypnotising music, and enigmatic costumes, and will leave audiences awestruck, spellbound, and deeply satisfied.
