About
Concordia Quartet will be joined in concert by Malaysian guest musicians Andrew Filmer (viola) in Dvorak’s String Quintet in E-flat major, Op. 97, nicknamed ‘American’ because Dvorak claimed to write “in the spirit of these American melodies”, and Howard Ng (oboe) in Mozart’s delightfully effervescent Oboe Quartet in F Major. The concerts culminate in a Mendelssohn’s String Quartet Op. 44 No. 2, written while the composer was on honeymoon in the Black Forest.

Concordia Quartet is a Singapore-based quartet that is part of a non-profit musicians collective, Resound Collective. The quartet made its debut in February 2020, and consists of four prize-winning musicians – Edward Tan, Kim Kyu Ri, Martin Peh and Lin Juan.
Onto their fifth year since debut, Concordia Quartet has presented two recitals per year on average, and their highly innovative June 2020 live broadcast during the Covid-19 pandemic, which involved players performing from their homes, was highlighted in the September issue of BBC Music Magazine. In 2022 and 2023 they attended two music festivals - Pacific Region International Summer Music Association (PRISMA) in Canada as string quartet-in-residence, and Harpa International Music Academy (HIMA) USA in Ohio as one of the four advanced string quartets. In January 2024, they were the festival quartet for the inaugural Singapore Chamber Music Festival organised by Resound Collective, and played a pivotal role in coaching the participating groups as well as performing in festival concerts.
With strong beliefs in community outreach, Concordia Quartet has presented a Christmas concert two years in a row at Gardens by the Bay’s Flower Dome, and in December 2023, they reached out to the residents of Allium Healthcare to share the joy of the festive season through music.
