Determined cheer up his friend, Chipollino prepares a pool of tea with syrup to neutralize the sourness. Princess Lemon finds joy in the tea. Enraged, King Lemon orders an attack and showers the city with sour lemon juice. Chipollino's mother is captured. Act 1 ends with the fruits seeking shelter under umbrellas.
In Act 2, Chipollino meets Cherry, and they embark on a quest to rescue their mothers. With the help of sleep-inducing flower scents, they succeed. Chipollino seeks advice on bringing happiness to the city. Inspired by his mother, they express their unhappiness by peeling onions, fostering understanding.
