About
Singapore Ballet returns to klpac for one weekend only to present a magnificent evening featuring excerpts from classical ballet favourites. Be enchanted by the beauty of Swan Lake and the vibrancy of Nutcracker. Perfect for ballet lovers and those looking to be introduced to ballet, this highly anticipated performance is not to be missed!
Swan Lake. Prince Siegfried is celebrating his birthday and is expected to choose a bride. While hunting in the forest one day, Prince Siegfried encounters a flock of swans and discovers that they were maidens under the spell of the evil sorcerer Rothbart. Prince Siegfried meets and falls in love with the Swan Queen, Odette, who reveals that she and her companions are cursed to remain as swans by day. The curse can only be broken if someone swears his allegiance and undying love to her. Singapore Ballet will perform Act 1 and 2 of Swan Lake.
Nutcracker. After intermission, Singapore Ballet will perform excerpts from the well-loved family classic Nutcracker. The story of Nutcracker unfolds on Christmas Eve, when young Clara Stahlbaum receives a Nutcracker doll from her godfather, Drosselmeyer. That night, she witnesses the Nutcracker come to life and battle the Mouse King. With Clara's help, the Nutcracker defeats the Mouse King and transforms into a prince. He takes Clara to the Land of Sweets, where they are celebrated by the Sugar Plum Fairy and other delightful characters. The journey is filled with enchanting dances and magical moments, celebrating the joy and wonder of the holiday season.
