This programme highlights the often invisible women who stood behind some of the most celebrated works in the piano repertoire — not as muses or symbols, but as stabilising presences, collaborators, and sources of continuity. Rather than foregrounding biography, the programme traces how joy, discipline, and psychological depth were shaped within relationships sustained by women’s emotional, domestic, and artistic labour.
From quiet dignity and daily work to long-term containment and endurance, these works reflect lives made possible by women who held space for complexity without recognition. Heard together, the programme reframes artistic greatness not as solitary genius, but as something forged and sustained within human relationship.
