About

Aethera draws its name from the fusion of aether—the ancient Greek word for sky—and terra—earth, symbolizing a bridge between the tangible and the intangible. In this installation, Vasflow invites participants to shift their focus inward, to witness their own thoughts and emotions while simultaneously letting them go. The artwork responds in real-time to the intensity of their focus and the stillness of their mind, gently guiding them toward a deeper state of presence and pure awareness. The more present they become, the more the audiovisual landscape blossoms, reflecting their mental state through immersive sound and visuals.

This work calls attention to the experience of the self, moment by moment, inviting participants to break free from the projections of past and future. The visual design, with its intricate geometries, echoes the harmony found throughout the universe—from the microcosm to the macrocosm—symbolizing a deep alignment with life’s flow when one perceives no separation. From earth to sky, life to death, all is interconnected, dissolving the illusion of the self as a separate entity.

Curatorial

In Aethera, Vasflow delves into the unseen realms of human consciousness, crafting an immersive experience that blurs the boundary between mind and machine. This exhibition, a culmination of his two month residency at Filamen Media Art Residency, invites viewers to witness the dynamic interplay between thought and digital form, where EEG technology becomes a bridge between inner states and visual manifestations.

The works presented here are not fixed; they respond, evolve, and shift in real time, triggered by neural impulses. Vasflow's exploration moves beyond the aesthetic, probing the deeper question of how our cognitive states: calm, chaos, and focus can be externalized through generative art. In this interplay between brainwaves and algorithmic design, Aethera challenges our perception of the self, urging us to contemplate the intricate link between thought, emotion, and digital creation.

Through this meditative yet dynamic body of work, Vasflow transforms intangible experiences into a visual and sensory language, immersing the audience in a journey through the ether of human consciousness.

Artist

Vasflow is a multimedia artist and also a VJ, whose work transitions from traditional mediums like acrylic on canvas to new media art. Now specializing in generative visuals and interactive digital art. His latest body of work explores the intersection of technology and human consciousness, using EEG devices and real-time data to create immersive visual experiences. Based in Kuala Lumpur, Vasflow's practice delves into the fluid dynamics between mind and machine, transforming intangible mental states into visual narratives. His first solo exhibition, showcasing the outcome of his residency at the Filamen Media Art Residency, where he focused on the connection between brainwaves and generative art.
