In the workshop, participants will work in groups to film animations, learning about the spirit of experimental animation. Through various forms of experimental animation as examples, participants will experience the charm and joy of creating animations firsthand. Experimental animation embodies the spirit of exploring the unknown and continuous experimentation. Participants will bring their own favorite nature object and creatively explore new forms of animation expression, breaking free from conventional frameworks to realize imaginative landscapes and vibrant creativity. Through this, they will discover that animation's essence holds infinite possibilities!

Instructor: Raito Low
Raito Low, Raito Low Jing-Yi, an animation director from Malaysia based in Taiwan. Specializing in stop-motion animation. Currently studying at NTUA MAA master's program, director of Raito's Art Studio. Adhering to the spirit of experimental animation, using plants as medium to create visuals that combine humanities and nature. Personal work including “Fisso”“Blüte”“Blumentanz”, has been shortlisted in more than 100 film festivals. Published "Like Water, We Flow " together with Ma Li. And she has worked as a stop-motion animator on projects such as "Little Hilly", "The Sick Roses", and " Compound Eyes of Tropical ".

15:00-15:30: Introduction to Animation (Principles of Animation + Overview of Animation Types)
15:30-16:30: Software Tutorial + Practice (Movement + Morphing)
16:30-17:00: Create Your Own Mandala (Choose Materials + Simple Storyboard Creation)
17:00-18:00: Shoot Nature Mandala Animation (approx. 10 seconds)

1. Install the mobile stop-motion animation app "Stop-motion Studio":

2. A day or two in advance, on a sunny day, gather various sizes and textures of stones/gravel/natural objects you like (e.g. pebbles, stones , branches, leaves, seeds—plants can be fresh or withered, collect different sizes of the same plant, try to keep them dry and don't be wet).
3. Art supplies: scissors, utility knife, blue tape, stationery, notebook, tweezers, colored/textured A3 paper (for background), USB plug head/powerbank.
