About
As the internet and electronic mass media dominate the public sphere, can theatre still be a meeting ground where societal issues are exposed, debated and contested?
Teater Garasi is a collective of multidisciplinary young artists based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, using theatre as an alternative way to investigate, to unveil and to perform the concerns of society, as a way to understand the ever-changing realities. In 2013, the collective was named a Prince Claus Laureate for “their adventurous spirit and groundbreaking work in stimulating performing arts in Southeast Asia”.
Ahead of their performance at GTF 2024, Artistic Director Yudi Ahmad Tajudin will share how Teater Garasi engages in critical dialogue with society through their work.
