"Macbeth" is a classic play written by the English playwright William Shakespeare, one of his "Four Great Tragedies." The story is based on the "Chronicles of England, Scotland, and Ireland" by the medieval Scottish historian Raphael Holinshed. It depicts the insatiable ambition of General Macbeth and Lady Macbeth for power, leading them to regicide and tyranny, ultimately resulting in their downfall. Shakespearean critics consider "Macbeth" to be the pinnacle of his tragedies based on historical material.

"Macbeth" has been widely adapted into various stage productions and film works. In 2016, a production of "Macbeth," directed by Antoni Cimolino and featuring Ian Lake, Michael Blake, Krystin Pellerin, Scott Wentworth, and others, premiered at the Stratford Festival in Canada.
